How to show/hide quantity & delete button on add-on products (Cart page)?

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This feature is only compatible with the Cart page. It is not working with the Theme’s Cart Drawer/Cart Popup/Mini Cart.

By default, the add-on products are dependent on the main product, and the quantity of the add-on product is automatically adjusted when the quantity of the main product is changed. That's why even when customers delete the add-on products, it always come back to the cart because its selected status is still recorded under the main item.



However, there are some cases where merchants may want to allow customers to change the quantity or delete add-on products from their cart. To enable the quantity box and delete button for add-on products, follow these steps:

Step 1: Navigate to the Settings page in your app admin and scroll down to the Cart Page section.

Step 2: Check the Show quantity box and delete button checkbox.

Step 3: Save changes and check it on the storefront

Once merchants have enabled this setting, customers will be able to change the quantity or delete add-on products from their cart.

Before you go, there is somethings to keep in mind:

If you decide to enable the quantity box and delete button for add-on products, you will need to make sure that you will be able to handle the following cases:

If a customer removes an add-on product from their cart, the information below the main item will still remain since it is recorded when customers move from product page to cart page. This may lead to the case where you see the selected add-on attribute under main item in order detail page but not seeing any add-on product

If a customer changes the quantity of an add-on product, the quantity of the main item will not be automatically adjusted.

To avoid those unwanted cases, we have another workaround where customers can change their selected options by adding an edit option button in cart page.

Conclusion

Here is how the setting of Show quantity box and delete button of add-on products works:

When the checkbox is disabled:

The quantity box and delete button will be hidden for add-on products in the cart page.

Customers will not be able to delete/increase the quantity of add-on products because it will be dependent on the quantity of the main product.

When the checkbox is enabled:

The quantity box and delete button will be shown for add-on products in the cart page.

Customers can increase, decrease (minimum to 1), or delete the add-on products.

The add-on information below the main item will still remain even if the add-on is deleted.

Please note: There may be some cases where the selected data for an add-on product is still shown under the main item after the add-on product has been removed. Please be sure of your decision before enabling this checkbox.
